The road to change

Il diario di viaggio dà la possibilità di raccontare la nostra missione direttamente sul campo ed anche il viaggio dei progetti di AFLIN.
Ogni anno AFLIN prende in considerazione alcune proposte che arrivano e, in base ai progetti in cantiere, vengono accettate.
Questo 2019 è iniziato con la collaborazione di Vittoria, una fotografa italiana che si è unita al progetto “100 obiettivi di AFLIN” e di Paolo ed Angela di “beyondthetrip“, una coppia di bloggers italiani con cui abbiamo deciso di lanciare il nuovo progetto “Io la faccio qui!“.

The travel diary gives us the possibility to talk about it mission directly on the spot and also about AFLIN’s projects. Each year AFLIN considers some proposals, that we receive, and according to the projects that are going on, that can be accepted. This 2019 started with a collaboration with Vittoria, an Italian photographer that took part in the project “100 objectives of AFLIN” and with Paolo and Angela of “beyondthetrip“, a couple of Italian bloggers that decided to begin with us the project “I’ll do it here”.

AFLIN si occupa da tanti anni principalmente di istruzione scolastica ma vivendo quotidianamente la comunità di Pushkar, non può rimanere a guardare tutte le necessità, e di cose da fare ce ne sono tante.
Così ci si attiva dando delle priorità. “L’igiene è più importante dell’indipendenza“, diceva Gandhi, eppure a 70 anni dalla nascita dell’India indipendente, si continua a vivere questo drammatico problema. Circa la metà della popolazione provvede ai propri bisogni all’aria aperta e basta girare per alcuni slum per trovare bambini che defecano nelle strade in cui giocano.
Non è solo una questione di decoro ma un grave problema di salute pubblica e di sicurezza soprattutto per le donne e i bambini che si recano spesso nei campi durante la notte.
Avere un bagno è avere dignità, sicurezza e rientra amche nei progetti di istruzine/educazione.
Perché istruzione/educazione?
Perché viene insegnato loro l’importanza dell’utilizzo del bagno. Molte famiglie legate al concetto delle loro abitudini di vita continuano a pensare e a preferire continuare a defecare nei campi.
AFLIN con la costruzione dei bagni, insegna e diffonde l’informazione di come devono essere utilizzati e perché. Così, senza pensarci più di tanto, eccoci alle prese con la campagna rivolta agli italiani per la realizzazione di questo progetto.
Vengono coinvolti altri amici bloggers che diventano così gli “Ambassador“.
Arrivano i primi soldi per il primo bagno e a seguire per il secondo, l’obiettivo è farne 10!

AFLIN has been working for many years mostly in the fields of school education but also living the daily lives of the Pushkar community and we cannot stand by and watch in front of all its necessities, and there are so many things to do. So we are following some priorities.
“Hygiene is more important than independence” Gandhi used to say, but 70 years after the birth of an independent India many people are still living this dramatic problem. Approximately half of the countries population takes care of his toilet needs outside and it’s enough to walk though a slum to see children playing in the same streets they use as toilets.
It is not just a matter of decorum but it is a great problem of public heath and security especially for the women and girls that often go out to the fields during the night to take care of their needs.
Having a bathroom means having dignity, security and it’s part of the projects of education.
Why education?
Because they are taught the importance of using a bathroom. Many families are attached to they traditions and still think that it is preferable to go to the bathroom outside in the fields. AFLIN with the building of bathrooms, teaches and spreads the information on how and why they should be used.
Just like this, without giving it much thought, we are working at a campaign in Italy to realize this project. We get together some bloggers that like this become our “Ambassadors”.
And we get the money to build the first bathroom, and then the second, the objective is to build 10!

Durante poi il lavoro del primo bagno, con Vittoria portiamo avanti il progetto fotografico “100 obiettivi di AFLIN”. Questo è un progetto che continua durante l’anno e dà la possibilità a tanti bambini di imparare l’utilizzo della macchina fotografica. Inoltre partecipano tutti ad un concorso che AFLIN mette in programma per poter formare dei giovani fotografi professionisti. E’ sempre bello vedere i bambini alle prese con l’immagine che catturano nel loro obiettivo.
Il progetto continua e ne vedremo sempre delle belle!
Ci sarà la partecipazione di fotografi italiani e poi il gran finale di chiusura dell’anno con la valutazione della nostra giuria.
La raccolta delle macchine fotografiche continua e abbiamo bisogno del vostro aiuto.
Formare un giovane che ha talento è la strada che lo porta a vedere che c’è la possibile del cambiamento.

During the work for the first bathroom, with Vittoria we went on with our photography project. This is a project that continues throughout the year giving many children the possibility to learn how to use a camera. Furthermore they all take part in a project built by AFLIN that allows to skill new young professional photographers. It is always nice to see the children working with the image that they capture. The project goes on and we will keep seeing some interesting outcomes. There will be the participation of some Italian photographers and at the end of the year the evaluation from our jury.
The collection of photographic cameras continues and we need your help.
Educating and teaching a skill to a young and talented person is the road that brings them to see the possibility of change.
